A25 toll bridge in Quebec to open May 2011

Recommended by 3 People Thumbs Up

The A25 toll bridge is scheduled to open in May 2011. The project will connect Henri-Bourassa Boulevard in Montreal with Highway 440 in Laval and include a bridge over Riviére des Prairies. An electronic toll station at the northern entrance to the bridge will read the electronic toll tag and photograph the license plate of each vehicle crossing the bridge. Tolls vary according to time of day, the size of the vehicle and whether or not the vehicle is registered with the A25.

You can save money by registering your vehicles’ license plates online or in person at 6801 Boulevard Levesque Est. The following charges will apply each time a vehicle crosses the bridge:

  • Registered vehicles: $3.00 + a crossing fee
  • Non-registered vehicles: $5.00 + a crossing fee

Registered vehicles must display an electronic tag (sticker transponder) which is applied to the inside of the windshield. To obtain the tag, you will be required to deposit $50.00 in your A25 toll account. Multiple tags can be linked to the same account.

Crossing fees vary according to vehicle category and time of day:

  • Category 1 – vehicles that do not exceed 7½ feet
    • $2.40 during peak hours (M-F 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.)
    • $1.80 during off-peak (all other times)
  •  Category 2 – vehicles that exceed 7½ feet
    • $4.40 during peak hours (M-F 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.)
    • $3.60 during off-peak (all other times)

There is a limited-time promotion to save $50.00 on toll fees if you open an account for a Category 1 vehicle before the bridge opens.
