Pending changes in California registration renewal
June 09, 2011
The California Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has proposed changes to the registration renewal process. If these changes go into effect, registration renewal notices will be mailed out close to or on the expiration date instead of 60 days prior to expiration, and fees cannot be collected until the renewal notices are issued.
Please note that these changes are not final at this time. PHH has been advised that the state of California will hold a meeting on June 15, 2011 to discuss these possible changes.
At the present time, registrations expiring in July cannot be renewed until July 2.
PHH will provide an update on this topic after the June 15 meeting.
