New Mexico to increase MVR fees

Effective September 1st, 2010, the price for New Mexico’s fee for electronic access to individual driver records will increase from $4.95 to $6.50.

Ontario introduces incentives for electric vehicles

The Ontario Government has recently announced that Ontario businesses and organizations that purchase or lease a new plug-in hybrid electric or battery electric vehicle after July 1, 2010, may be eligible for a rebate between $5,000 and $8,500.

Massachusetts bans texting while driving, Delaware restricts cell use

July 09, 2010

On July 2, Massachusetts passed a law that bans all Massachusetts drivers from text messaging. It takes effect in October and states that any driver caught writing or reading a text message can be cited and fined $100. Law enforcement will have the authority to stop any driver suspected of texting. However, the offense will not be considered a moving violation and will not be subject to an insurance surcharge.

On July 6, Delaware passed a law that requires motorists to use hands-free mobile devices while driving. The law goes into effect on January 2, 2011. It also prohibits drivers from text messaging, sending or reading e-mails and browsing websites while driving.

MVR enhancements in PHH InterActive® and PHH InterActive for Drivers

Now when you request an MVR from a state or province that uses manual forms, PHH InterActive and PHH InterActive for Drivers will pre-populate the request form for you and your drivers if our system has your information. Once the form has the required information you can print it out, sign it and fax or mail it to PHH.

PHH announces Chesapeake Funding, LLC’s issuance of $1 billion of senior asset backed notes

On June 1, 2010, PHH Corporation announced the completion of another important financing initiative designed to  improve the funding capabilities of PHH Arval: 

Chesapeake Funding, LLC, entered into the Series 2010-1 Indenture Supplement, pursuant to which Chesapeake may issue up to $1.0 billion in aggregate principal amount of its senior Series 2010-1 Asset Backed Notes, Class A. Chesapeake also issued approximately $32.9 million in aggregate principal amount of its subordinated Series 2010-1 Asset Backed Notes, Class B .

California smog certification for diesel-powered vehicles

Effective January 1, 2010, smog emission inspections are required in California for diesel-powered vehicles manufactured in or after 1998, and have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 14,000 pounds or less for original registrations and transfers.
