Toyota adjusts May production in North America

Due to parts availability, Toyota announced that its North American manufacturing plants will operate at 50 percent capacity on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting April 26.  Mondays and Fridays will be non-production days at the plants.

Production in Canada will be suspended for the week starting May 23 (Victoria Day) and in the United States for the week starting May 30 (Memorial Day). No decisions have been made regarding production after June 3.

In Japan, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) resumed vehicle production Monday (April 18) at all of its plants for the first time since the earthquake and tsunami, although at 50% capacity. TMC plans to suspend production during the annual spring holiday, April 28 through May 9, and resume production from May 10 to June 3. TMC has said it would decide on production beyond that period after assessing the parts situation. TMC earlier reopened two plants in Japan that assemble three hybrid vehicles –

Toyota Prius, Lexus CT 200h and HS 250h – and that production is ongoing.

PHH will continue to communicate with our import manufacturer partners and provide you with timely updates concerning factory orders, dealers’ inventory and out-of-stock purchases.
