Earthquake in Japan – update on impact to manufacturers
March 25, 2011
PHH continues to follow the devastating effects of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, as well as its impact on the auto industry.
This chart has been updated, by manufacturer, with the latest announced activities on production and plant closings in Japan as well as North America. At this time, manufacturers are dealing with parts issues from suppliers in affected areas and the availability of electric power.
The impact of the events in Japan are beginning to spread, creating production issues in North America, since most manufacturers source at least some components from that area. For example, the latest update from General Motors and Ford includes restrictions or scheduling delays on certain paints. If you have impacted orders you will be contacted by your PHH Account Team so that appropriate changes can be made, to avoid production delays.
PHH is continuing to monitor your orders and will provide additional information related to any production or shipping delays as it becomes available.
