Ford and Chrysler issue safety recalls
July 12, 2010
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that Ford and Chrysler will recall 55,800 vehicles to fix safety problems.
Ford is recalling Transit Connect vans manufactured between Dec. 5, 2008, and May 31, 2010. Pushpins that hold material in place in the van’s headliner (overhead compartment) fail to meet Federal head protection guidelines and pose a higher risk of head injury during a crash.
The Chrysler recall involves four 2010 Dodge and Jeep models: the Dodge Nitro, Dodge Ram, Jeep Liberty and Jeep Wrangler. The recalled vehicles have defective brake tubes that could leak and cause loss of brake fluid.
Ford will send notices starting July 19 asking owners of the recalled vehicles to bring them to their nearest dealer for service. Chrysler will notify owners starting in mid-August.
