Chrysler recalls Jeeps and Minivans
June 09, 2010
Chrysler is recalling more than half a million minivans and Jeep Wranglers due to a wiring problem. The recall affects about 285,000 2008-9 Dodge Grand Caravans and Chrysler Town & Country minivans.
Chrysler said “an improperly routed wiring harness” can be rubbed by a sliding door. This could wear through the insulation and possibly cause a fire inside the door. Chrysler said it has had 57 reports of vehicles with “thermal damage” but no accidents or injuries have been reported.
In addition, Chrysler is recalling about 285,000 2007–10 Jeep Wranglers because the front inner fender liners may rub against brake lines and cause a leak. That could result in a partial loss of the brakes. Chrysler said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.
