Carpets and floor mats temporarily unavailable for certain MY 2012 vehicles
October 04, 2011
Recent flooding in Pennsylvania has temporarily disrupted production of a major automotive carpet and floor mat manufacturer, impacting several OEMs including Chrysler, Ford, GM and Toyota. Here is a brief summary of the effects of this disruption.
Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep:
- The disruption has had no effect on floor mats for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles.
- Black carpet is the only color of carpet affected by this disruption.
- A plant may shut down for a day or two waiting on carpet; however, as of September 29, 2011, no plants were in complete shutdown.
Ford/Lincoln:
- Ford is building vehicles without carpets or floor mats and storing them for retrofit as supplies become available. As of September 29, 2011, only a small number of vehicles have been impacted.
- The MY 2012 models which may be affected include:
- Edge
- MKX
- Flex
- MKT
- Escape
- Focus (floor mats only)
- F-150 (regular cab – Kansas City assembly only)
- Ford has secured alternative suppliers to produce carpet without color change to maintain production.
GM:
- The impact is expected to be minimal; the CTS will be affected most.
- Some vehicles are being shipped without floor mats.
- GM is asking customers not to order floor mats or submit a transportation claim for missing items if floor mats are missing on their new vehicle; the mats will be shipped at a later date.
- Customers should not substitute any non-GM floor mat as it may cause issues with the accelerator and/or brake pedal.
Toyota:
- Affected vehicles are Camry, Highlander and Sequoia.
- The Camry 5-piece floor mat set is being replaced with a 4-piece set.
- PHH will advise clients if their orders are affected.
PHH will provide updates on all manufacturers affected as information becomes available. Please contact your PHH Account Team if you have any questions.
