New CAFE standards to save corporate fleets billions

Just thought you’d like to see this article on Greenbiz.com that quotes both Jason Mathers from Environmental Defense Fund and me about the effect of the new CAFÉ standards on corporate fleets.

As you probably know, on April 1, 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Transportation’s National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a joint final rule establishing a new National Program to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel economy for new cars and trucks sold in the United States. The new standards require model year 2012-2016 passenger cars and light-duty trucks to achieve a combined fuel economy average of 35.5 miles per gallon, along with emissions levels of 250 grams of carbon dioxide per mile.

Speaking of greenhouse gases and environmental initiatives, don’t forget to take the 2010 Green Survey today. It’s quick and easy to do, and your participation enters you into a drawing for a Netbook companion PC!
