Before making your vehicle selector decisions…

In the process of preparing for your fall buy? PHH’s Strategic Consulting group has just released a new white paper, “An Analysis of Vehicle Trends,” that could help you with decision-making on your vehicle selector.

The Strategic Consulting group is PHH’s in-house team that provides guidance and insight on business and fleet industry trends. They regularly consult with PHH clients on their specific fleets, providing analysis, benchmarking and more on all aspects of the fleet, including the vehicle selector.

This white paper is the result of extensive research and includes information on the general automotive marketplace, as well as results of PHH’s own survey on fleet vehicle trends. For instance, during the 2011 and 2012 model year, U.S. and Canadian fleets significantly increased their use of cars with 4- and 5-cylinder engines – shifting away from 6-cylinder engines. There was also an uptick in the share of 6-cylinder (rather than 8-cylinder) full-size pickups due to an increased selection of the 6-cylinder Ford F-150.

The white paper also analyzes trends in:

  • Fuel economy. Get insight into innovations in design and engineering, such as Ford’s EcoBoostTM, GM’s eAssist, Chrysler’s TigersharkTM engines and Multiair technology ,and Mazda’s SKYACTIV® technology.
  • Alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs). The white paper provides tables summarizing the most viable AFVs for fleet applications today.
  • Safety. The paper discusses the tremendous paradigm shift from creating vehicles with crash protection equipment to vehicles that are “smarter” and equipped with crash avoidance systems.
  • Comfort and convenience. Manufacturers are providing additional features as standard equipment – find out which.
