Sparks, Md. (Jan. 26, 2012) – PHH Arval today announced that Lenny Pusdesris has been named to the new position of Vice President, Truck Engineering, effective immediately. In this role, he will focus on developing and leading a truck engineering team, and will report to Tom Keilty, senior vice president and chief operating officer.

“We are excited to have Lenny on board,” said Keilty. “He has more than 20 years of experience in the vehicle upfit market, and he is a natural fit for our organization as we continue to enhance our truck capabilities in order to serve the needs of our clients.”

Pusdesris started his career with Roush, one of the largest automotive service suppliers, as a race car and prototype mechanic and fabricator, and steadily grew through the organization to the level of Director of Operations for Engineering Services and Prototype Production supporting Ford Motor Company’s truck group.

During his tenure at Roush, Pusdesris worked with Ford on the prototyping and launch of the F-650/F-750 truck line, as well as Superduty, Econoline and F Series platforms, implemented several growth strategies and launched an upfit facility to assemble the Dodge Ram Hemi Sport, Rumble Bee and Daytona programs.

Following Roush, Pusdesris joined Magna, ranked No. 5 in Automotive News Global Supplier List; working with Ford’s F-series team in the engineering, development and marketing of the F-150 Mid Box product. Most recently, he was National Sales Manager at Steelweld, helping launch Steelweld’s introduction into the fleet and commercial market for truck bodies, van interiors and alternative fuel conversions.

Pusdesris is a member of National Truck Equipment Association, National Association of Fleet Administrators, National Petroleum Management Association, Green Truck Association and the American Gas Association.

PHH Arval Team Wins Outstanding Customer Support Performance Award From The Fraser Group

“We make customer service a priority. So it is rewarding to have our efforts recognized – especially by The Fraser Group, which sets rigorous standards that must be met in order to achieve an ‘outstanding‘ level of performance,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Tom Keilty.

The Fraser Group, a management consulting firm that helps organizations improve performance, recently presented PHH Arval’s Vehicle Accident Services Driver Assistance Team with its “Outstanding Customer Support Performance Award for 2011.” It is the third year that a PHH Arval team has been recognized for customer service excellence. In 2009 and 2010, PHH Arval’s Driver Response Team won the award. (Go to http://www.phharval.com/home/about-phh/recognition for more information on previous awards.)

Throughout the past year, The Fraser Group monitored and scored calls taken by PHH’s Vehicle Accident Services Driver Assistance Team against the firm’s proprietary call center methodology. Each call is evaluated based on 36 criteria and PHH consistently rated at 90 percent or higher over the past four quarters. To date, PHH is the only company among those measured that has achieved this level of performance.

Barry Maners, managing director of The Fraser Group, presented the award to PHH Arval during an awards ceremony at the company's headquarters in Sparks, Md.

During the presentation, Maners said “Fraser has scored literally thousands of calls for more than 100 customer contact centers. Of those centers, only three have been awarded 90 percent of the total points available for four consecutive quarters based on a statistically relevant sample of calls. PHH Arval’s Driver Response Team was the first to reach that threshold and now PHH Arval’s Vehicle Accident Services Driver Assistance Team has also achieved this level of outstanding customer support.”

Risk and Safety Foremost at PHH Arval Fleet Management Symposium

Calgary, Canada (Nov. 22, 2011) – Studies show that distracted driving is a contributing factor in 20 percent of crashes, and a contributing cause of 16 percent of fatal crashes. For fleet companies, this can lead to numerous risks, which is why risk and safety was front and center at this year’s PHH Arval Fleet Management Symposium recently held in Calgary.

President of PHH Canada Jim Halliday said, “Driver behaviour is one of the most controllable aspects that can influence a fleet company’s risk and safety.”

To address those concerns, Vice President and General Manager Tony Vinciguerra and Manager of Light Duty Training Bruce Davisson from the Center for Transportation Safety, a PHH Arval company, were on hand to discuss the benefits of driver training and address some of the key distractions drivers face.

Vinciguerra said, “Driver attitude and behaviour behind the wheel contribute to more than 90 percent of crashes. Preventing them requires maximum concentration – it is the most important thing a driver can do.”

He illustrated this by saying a three-second distraction from a cell phone while driving would result in a total stopping distance of more than two football fields. He recommends that companies look at:

Classroom or internet-based driver training to address driver behaviour;

Behind-the-wheel training to reinforce skills; and

An awards program to reward drivers for safe, accident-free driving.

Another way to limit cell phone distraction is a new software application, iNmotionsm, which was created by PHH with ZoomSafer. Matt Howard, co-founder and CEO of ZoomSafer, showed how the application can automatically enforce a company’s cell phone policy – as well as the laws that prohibit or regulate cell phone use – thus limiting driver distraction. (For additional information, see related press release http://bit.ly/vkaQA0.)

Additionally, PHH Onboardsm, vehicle telematics technology that monitors aggressive driving, harsh braking, speeding, and other unsafe driver behaviour, can help companies identify candidates for training or other behaviour modification programs and reduce risks.

Mike Bennett, vice president of sales and client relations for Western Canada said, “It’s not just a matter of installing technology in a vehicle; it’s understanding the resulting information and putting it into action. We recognize that and help clients manage their costs and enhance vehicle performance and safety.”

For example, Geotab, a PHH telematics partner, showed participants that before installing its technology more than 60 percent of fleet vehicles had at least one speed policy violation each month. However, after policy enforcement, violations were reduced to 21 percent, which also reduced the number of accidents.

“One of our priorities is to help our clients identify their high risk drivers and modify risky driver behavior. We want to keep our roads safe,” said Bennett.

“It’s really very simple – employee texting, emailing and browsing while driving leads to increased crashes and creates safety hazards on the road,” said George Kilroy, President and CEO, PHH Arval, which is one of North America’s largest provider of fleet management services. “We partnered with ZoomSafer to deliver iNmotion in direct response to customers seeking solutions to improve the safety of our roads.”

ZoomSafer, which is a leading provider of policy software to prevent distracted driving, created the iNmotionSM software application. Once installed on a driver’s BlackBerry® or Android™ smartphone, the application detects when employees are driving and will automatically enforce company cell phone policy. For example, it can:

Restrict the use of cell phones except emergency calls,

Restrict drivers to ‘hands-free mode’ when making and receiving calls, and

Send automated responses that the driver is unavailable via text message or email.

“PHH has a long and outstanding reputation for developing innovative products tailored to meet the constantly changing needs of commercial fleet customers,” said ZoomSafer CEO Matt Howard. “We’re pleased to provide the technology in support of iNmotion and we look forward to helping PHH customers promote safe and legal use of cell phones while driving.”

The software is available for drivers in the United States and Canada.
