PHH FirstFleet gives a day to Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc.

Cash Donation Feeds More Than 200 Homeless Residents

September 4, 2007 – On Friday, August 17, 2007, more than 20 employees and senior executives of Fort Lauderdale-based PHH FirstFleet spent an active day working at Broward Partnership for the Homeless’ (BPHI) Broward County Central Homeless Assistance Center (Center) for a day of hands-on community service.  This is the second consecutive year PHH FirstFleet, a national provider of truck fleet asset management services, has donated its time, money and resources to support the non-profit’s commitment to reducing homelessness by promoting independence and self worth.

Led by President Mike Lewis and Senior Vice President Hal Booth, PHH FirstFleet employees tackled a variety of projects at the Center, a 200-bed emergency housing facility for homeless men, women and families with children.  The group continued its long tradition of community service and giving as part of BPHI’s EGADS! (Everyone Gives A Day of Service) volunteer program, which PHH FirstFleet helped launch a year ago.

“Our employees at PHH FirstFleet really look forward to this day each year,” said Lewis. “Broward Partnership for the Homeless is one of the country’s preeminent homeless assistance programs, and we’re very pleased to partner with them, not just with a monetary donation, but also with hands-on service. It’s a great opportunity to give back to the community while helping BPHI rebuild lives.”

Teams of volunteers pressure-cleaned BPHI’s campus walkways and landscaped the perimeter of the property. PHH First Fleet employees also cooked and served lunch, which they then enjoyed with the Center’s residents, as part of BPHI’s Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers program. The day of goodwill culminated with a check presentation by Lewis to BPHI’s CEO, Frances M. Esposito, to sponsor that meal.

“We are very grateful to each and every PHH FirstFleet employee who volunteered their time to serve our residents," said Katie Gustafson Foster, Chief Development & Communication Officer for BPHI. “The support of companies such as PHH FirstFleet, enables us to offer solution-focused services as part of our mission to reduce homelessness in Broward County.”
